  • Two important events worth attending are Holetown Festival and Barbados Independence Day. The former one is a week-long celebration taking place mid-February that marks the arrival of the first settlers at the site now known as Holetown on February 17, 1627, and introduces visitors to the Barbadian culture and traditions through a varied program that includes concerts, live music, street parades, craft fairs, historical exhibitions, beauty pageants, sporting competitions and food and drink happenings, while the Barbados Independence Day, first achieved on November 30th of 1966, features several exciting events throughout the island.
