NEW! How you can make your stay more authentic, sustainable and memorable

These tips provide the insider’s knowledge on how travelers can engage with local culture, make their vacations more memorable, promote sustainability in the region, and enhance their overall holiday experience.

  • To enhance the knowledge of the local Mayan culture, travelers are encouraged to attend the Ecological parks such as Xcaret and Xelha which showcase the Mayan culture and present ancient ball games and dances.
  • One of its most important celebrations on the East Coast of Mexico is the annual Quintana Roo Carnival, which takes over the streets of Cancun in mid-February. For five days both locals and tourists are enjoying numerous parades of allegorical carriages and dancers imbuing every corner of Cancun with color and joy.
  • El Dorado Maroma provides free transportation twice a week so that guests could go on a shopping tour to Playa del Carmen where they can find all kinds of local artwork and local shops. Also, the Mexican artwork is sold at the hotel’s gift shop, while the ceramic painting classes are held on the beach. In addition to visiting Playa del Carmen, which is one of most sought after activities, travelers can also visit Maroma Paradise which is a Marina located next to the hotel where guests can engage in extra activities such as parasailing, ATV’s, wave runners, speed boats, horseback riding and more at a surcharge.
  • As part of hotel’s going green program guest can reduce the number of times their towels and sheets are washed. Also, the hotel changed all of the air system for environmentally friendly units that save up to 70% of the energy and do not emit polluting gases to the environment. The hotel’s laundry room works with ozone instead of soap, which fosters water conservation. The hotel also installed solar panels to heat water and energy saving light bulbs throughout the property.
  • The hotel offers a Mexican dinner and a Mayan dinner every week so that guests could experience local cuisine. The entertainment of the night provides a clear idea of what a traditional dinner party in the country would be like.
